Got wanderlust? Express your love of travel with a fun watercolor globe sign!
I don’t think globes will ever go out of style.

Our longing for travel and seeing new places is deeply ingrained.

Mix a wood globe shape with the art of watercolor and you have yourself a trendy new piece of wall art!

I am no painter, but what I love about watercolor is that you can apply multiple layers so any mistakes you think you make can be covered up.

Art is in the eye of the beholder, after all!

Read on to see how I made my very own DIY watercolor globe.

The wood globe is large so you need a watercolor pad large enough to cover the entire size.

Open the pad and lay the globe face down on the watercolor paper.

Trace the edges of the globe with a pencil.

Cut out the shape.

Flip the globe back over to the front and apply a coat of the Mod Podge all over the surface with a sponge brush.

Lay the cutout of the globe on top then flip the globe over so the weight of the wood won’t allow the paper to wrinkle as it dries.

Allow 30 minutes to an hour to dry.

To use the printable, trim a piece of the watercolor paper into an 8.5″ x 11″ sheet that will feed through your printer and print the provided PDF.

An inkjet or laser printer will work fine, just give the ink plenty of time to dry before using it.

There is a faint gray circle around the quote to use as a guide for cutting it out.

Paint the globe with the watercolor paints.

Once dry, adhere the quote to the center of the globe and paint it as well.

Freehand paint various flowers and greenery on the watercolor paper and cut them out.

Arrange them along the edge of the globe then use double sided tape to keep them in place.

Painting the quote will dull the ink a bit.

Use a black marker to go over the letters to make them pop a bit more.

I have various globes and maps scattered around my home (the love to travel runs deep!) so this DIY watercolor globe decor is a great addition to my collection.

And since it’s painted, you can use any colors to match your decor.
